Busy, busy, busssssy

Do you get a real tree or have a fake one?  Growing up I always had a fake one.  Actually my parents now have one with the lights built onto the branches.  Well Matt didn't want to do that so for the past couple of years we have gone to cut one down.  This year was extra special because it was the beginning of a family tradition.  It was fun to see B-man(Brooks) poke and feel all the trees.  Walking in boots was a new experience too!
Onto the big PARTY..........
Remember back to my cookies?  Well this proves that yes I can bake, but maybe I need to stick to the box mixes.  I know what you are thinking..my poor family what doooo they eat.  Well I am very lucky and "thankful" for my husband who loves to cook.  He would rather work all day and come home and cook then come home to my cooking.  Don't get me wrong I do try.  My job is to plan them out and have everything here at the house.  Ok enough...
My Christmas splurge this year.  I have wanted these ornaments for two years now so I finally broke down and bought them when they had free shipping at Land of Nod.  Loved the colors and style.

Look at my new sled!  Perfect for the backyard with Dad and Morgan.
Everyone who has or had a 1 year old knows that they are more interested in the paper and boxes than the new toys they are getting.  Thanks for all the neat toys that we will have to open and figure out.
Friends came and had fun, well slept through it all.  Next year I can only imagine what trouble Brooks and Owen will get into.
Lastly.....cake and ice cream!  I thought that this would be a bigger mess than it was.  He liked the ice cream more than the cupcake.

Hope you all had a bussssssy and fun holiday weekend.  I can't believe my little boy is one already.

Live in the moment and enjoy every moment you are given with the ones you love the most!

Good morning winter!

We knew that there was snow if the forecast, but this much over night?  It is pretty as the sun shines on it and makes being inside feel all that better knowing that it is cooooold out.

Sensory play is the best.  I always liked seeing their enjoyment (as a preschool teacher and now a mom) of letting them play with things they never would be able to do at home.  I try not to worry about the mess as long as it can be cleaned up and isn't permanent.
Walking was a bit tricky in the snow.  Well ok he didn't even move because he didn't know how. As he tried he fell right onto his face and got all wet.  So funny.  It is like kids just know that snow is for eating.

I'v been trying to get lots done as our first year together comes to an end soon.  My goal is to have his scrapbook done before he turns 1!!! ( two weeks away)  I think that I will make it.  Thanks to Abby my sis for coming over this weekend and scrapping with me.  She started her x-mas cards and I worked on the two layouts below.

Only a couple more to go.  Wish me luck.  Here is to a warm Monday!

Why do I even try...

Some fun findings for our gingerbread men birthday party coming up in just a week(and two days).  My favorite was the mini gingerbread men molds.  I had may ideas of what to use it for.  Jello maybe but there won't be many kids there, ice for drinks, or cookies.  So today I got all ready to make the cookies and see what happens.......

Well I should have know what would happen...not what I expected to.  Why does this always happen to me.  I need to just stay out of the kitchen!  Mom would you even eat these?  (She just got done telling me that she would eat the cookies right out of the freezer.  Does anyone else have a Mom that enjoys anything crunchy, or crusty that is stuck to the side of dinner dish?  You know what I mean if you know my Mom!!! haha)
So then I thought I will just make mini cookies on my own.  Well they are flatter than flat.  That is a talent that runs in my family (flat cookies).
So we decided that we would just eat the dough! (No I really didn't let them eat it, only I did).

At least I got to enjoy the yummy smell!  And why are they trusting me to make the Thanksgiving pies?

Happy Thursday!  Only 1 week until Thanksgiving.  Where has the time gone?

Sneak Peak....

Sneak Peak.....for those who are participating in the cupcake card contest from LemonTreeSudio.

Bananas for lunch!  What are you eating today for lunch?  Anyone got suggestions of new foods to try?  He is a stinker and everything new hits the floor without going in the mouth.  But boy he can put back the cherrio's.

Hello....good-bye

This weekend we had a close friends wedding on Saturday.  Since high school some of my friends have moved all over the United States.  This event brought us all back together for some well needed chatting, dancing, and too much wine.  :)  Today was a little slow moving to say the least.  Matt was very understanding and let me sit in the chair allllll day.  So that will make for a HUGE catch up day tomorrow.  For everyone traveling back home today and tomorrow hope you get there safe and can't wait till the next time (Christmas is right around the corner).   Looking at the battery life left on the computer I better go, till next time love you girls and thanks for such a fun weekend!

PS.  Thanks to Aunt Abby and Tim for the babysitting and taxi home.

Only Morgan...

Only Morgan could get herself into this situation.  We had a busy day yesterday going back and forth to the vet.  Poor Morgan has a rash that she can't get rid of which led to skin scrapings and wearing my shirt tied back.  The scraping was a little to deep ( I thought that the vet should have had some help ) so they tried to glue it shut.  Well no more than 10 minutes at home it was scratched open and I had just but Brooks down for a cat nap..... so she had to wait until Matt got home.  She went back for stitches and they want her to wear a shirt so she doesn't open them up.

Work in progress:  Little man didn't have a stocking last year so this year I am making up for it by crafting up one my own.  This is what it looks like right now.  It needs a cuff at the top and his name on it.  I am also thinking about lining the inside with the same fabric that I used on the lining of the antlers.
How do they just know where all the fun is?

Today:  Going to get Morgan some new food to try to see if that will help and show Brooks all the pets there.  It will be interesting to see what he thinks or if it will be like our first trip to the zoo and he couldn't find the animals visually.  Then we all need more fabric right so maybe a stop at Joanne Fabrics.  ( really I am making a blanket for my m-i-l to give at a baby shower, so thanks Terri for the reason to get back there )  Enjoy your Thursday!

Welcome Winter

How can you be learning to walk when you have to wear this big coat??? I scored this last year probably even before he was born at Old Navy on clearance. ( You know how you couldn't resist because it was so exciting to be buying little stuff for the first time.)   My husband is a big Batman fan and this hat was in the box of hand me downs from family, now we just need mittens.  Hopefully we can wait a few weeks but I am afraid not.

They are out there on the streets ready to be caught.  What are they?  They are the invites to Brooks' First Birthday party.  We are celebrating with lots of gingerbread men and treats.  I love to make my own invites and this was extra special.  There seems to be lots of gingerbread men things out this holiday season.  That helps when thinking of fun decorations.

Off to make my best attempt and dinner as you will note that on my hobbies and interests is does not say cooking!

Who knew?

Who knew, that teeth could come in all at once and not in any order.  My little guy has a tooth popped through on the left side (but not the center)and then the right center and the next one over is ready too.  Poor guy has been living on Tylenol and having a hard time napping ( wait he has always had a hard time napping).

And here is just a funny picture of Morgan enjoying the leaves and the nice weather that we had early in the week.  Wish is was like this again, but I am afraid that winter is right around the corner.

Hello Blog World!

I am excited to share ideas, keep family updated on what the little man is up to now (like walking), and have an outlet for creativity.

So,
to jump right in...meet Brooks my son, and my sunshine on a rainy day like today.  I wanted to share our pictures from the little gym this week.  I can't believe that they have 10 month olds(11 mo on the 8th) doing summersaults, but they love it. Since we are close to walking, running will be next and he had a lot of fun running with all the other kids.
